The American Museum of Natural History opened it’s doors today to an exhibit, Climate Change.
Their website is a wonderful interactive experience (click on the link above).
Treehugger was able to get there early and posted a great summary of what it was like. You can go HERE to see all of that.
You have quite a while to visit it in New York, as it is open until August 16, 2009. At that point it will tour the world, stopping in places as close as Cleveland and as far as Abu Dhabi.

If you live near Pasadena and have nothing to do, may I suggest an art exhibit that opens today: Second Growth by William Stranger .
A second growth forest is one that has re-grown after it has been heavily logged or clear-cut. The exhibition Second Growth explores the “second life” of trees. Using salvaged materials as well as finely crafted furniture and hand carved objects, Stranger’s installation invokes the life cycle of a tree. The artist strives to have as little impact on the environment as possible and gives discarded, neglected wood a new existence, creating a new experience of the same wood. Influenced by the structure of trees, buildings and animals, his work exemplifies restraint, simplicity and harmony.

Some of you may have seen this before, but if not I wanted to share with you the artist Chris Jordan and his website. Click HERE.
We hear statistics like: we use “one million plastic cups, the number used on airline flights in the US every six hours”, or “two million plastic bottles are used every five minutes” in the U.S. But we also know, as I linked to HERE, that with the Psychology of Global Warming, that without a face we do not get the urgency of our climate destabilization.
Jordan’s artwork helps put a face or picture to the issues so we can see what we are doing to our home.

If you live in Los Angeles… tomorrow brings a very special event around town. Click HERE for the link.
The first annual Park[ing] Day LA, was on Friday, September 21st 2007, which brought together a diverse constituency of community groups, neighborhood councils, design & architecture firms, professional organizations, non-profits, cyclists & pedestrian advocates as they worked together and transformed numerous parking spaces & parking lots located throughout LA into ephemeral parks for the day. By occupying a parking spot, volunteers enhanced the streets with sustainably designed pocket-parks.
We’re bringing back Park[ing] Day LA on Friday, September 19th, 2008.
