A young swimming sensation is making waves across the globe! Lillie McPherson, a Junior Pan Pac medalist from Australia, has just announced her decision to join the University of Florida's swimming program in 2026, sparking excitement and curiosity in the swimming community.

Hailing from Sydney, Australia, McPherson has verbally committed to the University of Florida, expressing her enthusiasm for the opportunity. At the Australian Trials in June, she showcased her versatility, placing 20th in the 100-meter butterfly (1:02.09) and 26th in the 200-meter freestyle (2:03.45). And this is the part most people miss—her international experience is what truly sets her apart.
In 2024, McPherson represented Australia at the Junior Pan Pac Championships, where she made her mark. She reached the finals in both the 50-meter freestyle (26.39) and 100-meter freestyle (56.69), and contributed to Australia's silver medal in the girls' 400-meter freestyle relay with a split of 56.32 on the third leg.
McPherson's personal best times in long-course meters (converted to short-course yards) are impressive: 25.73 (22.45) in the 50 free, 55.84 (48.86) in the 100 free, 2:00.45 (1:45.63) in the 200 free, and 1:00.08 (52.86) in the 100 fly. The Florida women's swimming team is a force to be reckoned with, finishing 2nd at the 2025 SEC Championships and 6th at the NCAA Championships. Currently ranked #10 in SwimSwam's Pre-Invite Power Rankings, the team is led by breaststroker Anita Bottazzo, who dominates the NCAA season in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 56.87.
McPherson's converted times place her among the top swimmers on the team. Her 50 free and 100 fly times would rank 2nd, while her 100 and 200 free times would be 3rd. She narrowly missed the cut for the 2025 NCAA Championships, which required a 22.01 in the 50 free, 48.11 in the 100 free, and a 1:44.74 in the 200 free.
McPherson will join a select group of international swimmers at Florida in the class of 2030, including Valentina Procaccini from Italy, Kim Bomin from South Korea, and Maddie Moreth from Indiana.
